What is mead?
Mead is an alcoholic beverage fermented from honey, water, and yeast. It’s the world’s oldest fermented drink — older than wine or beer — and every bottle starts with real honey from hardworking bees.
How is mead different from wine or cider?
Instead of relying on fruit sugars (like wine or cider), mead gets its natural fermentable sugars from honey. This gives it a smoother, rounder finish and a more complex floral character.
What does mead taste like?
Flavor varies by style — from crisp and refreshing to rich and dessert-like — but the common thread is a honey-forward aroma with layers of fruit or botanical notes. Mead can be dry, semi-sweet, or sweet, depending on the recipe and fermentation.
Is mead gluten-free?
Yes.
Traditional mead is naturally gluten-free because it’s made without grains. Just honey, water, and yeast.
Where do you source your honey?
We source our honey from Texas hives, working with local beekeepers who prioritize the health of their colonies and the surrounding land. Every bottle reflects the flavor of our region’s blooms and seasons.
Should mead be served chilled, room temperature, or warm?
A high-quality mead tastes great at any temperature — enjoy it your way. Mead is incredibly versatile: It can be enjoyed chilled, at room temperature, or piping hot.
How long does mead last?
Mead ages beautifully. Stored in a cool, dark place, an unopened bottle can last years, and many meads will actually improve over time as the flavors mature.
Once opened, mead stays fresh for 1–3 weeks if re-corked and refrigerated.
(In general, the higher the alcohol and the sweeter the mead, the longer it will stay good.)
Can mead be used in cocktails?
Mead makes an exceptional cocktail ingredient because it brings natural sweetness and complex flavor from real honey, offering depth that syrups and artificial mixers can’t match. What is Your Return & Refund Policy?
Alcohol Sales Cancellation & Refund Policy
At Valkyrie’s Kiss Meadery, we follow all Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code regulations regarding the sale and handling of alcoholic beverages.
Under the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, alcoholic beverages cannot be returned or refunded once sold or transferred to the purchaser.
Pickup Orders
Order Cancellations (Before Pickup)
Customers may cancel their order before pickup.
If the order has not been picked up or transferred to the customer, a refund may be issued, as the product has remained under Valkyrie’s Kiss Meadery’s control.
No Refunds for Unclaimed Pickup Orders
If a customer places an order for pickup and:
- does not arrive,
- does not respond to pickup
- messages, or otherwise abandons the order, the sale is considered final.
Unclaimed pickup orders are not eligible for refunds.
Because abandoned pickup orders are considered completed sales, they cannot be refunded.
Refund Method
Approved refunds (for cancellations made before pickup) will be issued to the original payment method only.
